Dear Receiving DO Schools,
When we first became aware of the new AACOMAS letter service in April 2015, we reached out to AACOM to work out a way for them to download directly from VE - just like AMCAS and TMDSAS do currently. We were told that Liaison's system is not able to interface with other letter services and currently has no plans to do so. They furthered that our receiving institutions may continue to receive evaluations from VE by downloading directly from our system as usual.
Shortly after, the COO of AACOM reached out to us asking to schedule a meeting to discuss ways in which we could work together. We met with the COO and Implementation Director in May 2015 to discuss how this would happen. The COO assured us that AACOM was committed to making the integration happen by the start of the 2017 application cycle and asked that we notify our users.
After those conversations, we reached out to AACOM several times. In mid February of 2016 the COO assured us that he would have the new director of application services contact us immediately. We then tried contacting this new person several times but received no response. A few weeks later, we called the COO to discover that he is no longer at AACOM and the new COO knows nothing of our arrangement.
A few weeks after that, we received a message from the director informing us that AACOM did not plan to integrate VE for the upcoming 2017 cycle but that the integration was still on the table for discussion. Needless to say we are very disappointed that AACOM will not honor the previous agreement when the fix is such a simple one. We have reached out to AACOM multiple times over the last year and they’ve stopped responding to our emails and phone calls. We will continue to reach out to AACOM and hope that they will respond.
Our sending schools have expressed a desire to continue sending letters to receiving schools through VirtualEvals. With our system, advisors are able to create applicant records and upload letters to multiple schools for multiple applicants quickly and all in one place. They are able to track when those letters are downloaded by the receiving institutions as well as quickly upload corrections and/or additional letters.
Our sending schools are also asking whether the receiving DO schools will continue to download from VE or only accept LORs from the AACOMAS letter service. We are requesting that our DO schools continue to receive letters directly from VE as we continue to pursue AACOM to establish a solution. However, if your institution is making alternate plans for receiving LORs, please let us know and we will communicate that information to the sending schools.
VE has enjoyed more than 12 years of successful relationships with more than 300 sending and receiving schools. It is our desire to continue those relationships in the years to come. And we’re hopeful that AACOM will quickly come to realize the benefits of a relationship with VE.
